# About This Guide #

Welcome to my Guide on online safety and comfort.

You may b wondering what this guide is about and why i have written it.

Well this guide is about Enjoying your online experience to the fullest without
troubles

The reason i have written this is i have not seen any other documentation in
description

such as this to help users enjoy online time

This document is directed towards the major peer to peer networks such as

AIM, YAHOO, MSN, IRC, And much much more.

First of all i will talk u thru the troubles that can happen to u on these types
of networks

and what u can do to stop them from happening to yourself.

There are many types of threats out there in the internet world which most of
are

minor to worry about. Below i will explain some basic's of this to you

# Virus's and Trojans #

Have u ever been infected by a virus's or Trojan and lost information or had the
annoying job

of removing it and stopping it from killing your system? then u will no how much
trouble they

can b on the other hand if u haven't had this happen to u then u are one of the
lucky ones so

far and i recommend staying that way by trying your hardest to prevent this from
happening

because there is nothing worse then working on something for a few hours and
losing it all in

a few seconds

-Prevention-

To stay secure from this u will need to have a decent anti virus scanning and

running live on your computer at all times. I personally use nod32 which does
great deep and

network scanning of your entire network.

# Key loggers, Malware and Spyware #

Do u ever type something and wonder if some one can see what your typing on

the other side of the world? Well the answer is they can and they can very easy

With the burst in key logging programs over the last couple of years it has been
made easier

and easier for the everyday person to key log their family or friends computer
to spy on them.

This resulting in lost of trust, family issues, and much more down the track.

Malware/Spyware can also be just as annoying as a virus but also sending data
back to the

host at the time. Both Mal and Spyware both are general use's for bad
advertising of other

malicious programs and wed sites.

-Prevention-

To stay secure to this you will need to have a anti spy/mal ware and a good pop
up blocker

this will help u find and prevent any mal/spyware from entering your computer or
network

i personally use adware pro.

# banking and buying online #

do u feel safe about buying or banking online? do u know how to make sure its a
secure page?

-Prevention-

Never store your Passwords or user names on your pcs

Delete any emails with any information relating back to these types of accounts
asap

Do not disclose your information to absolutely anybody at all

change passwords often and use multi case and letters and numbered passwords

# child safety #

Do u feel safe while your children browse the unknown late at night?

do u know where your children have been online? do u know who they talk to and
what they do?

maybe u should considering the amount of predators out there in the world wide
web.

there is many programs out there to help prohibit access to certain websites and
p2p networks.

There is also the increasing trouble of young kids wasting there time behind a
computer for these

types of activities. they could b using there time to learn stuff or out doing
more constructive

things ect..

-Prevention-

Striker Parenting world wide.

use of access restricting programs

internet curfews

ISP's blocking prohibited contents

# Peer to Peer Safety #

Peer to peer networks can be quite a ride for some and quite a hassle for others
i find it depends

on how u approach it and how u approach the unknown people from the places u go
online.

These places can b anything from a basic msn chat to a full scale chat network
like Ares or

IRC to anything from a forum to a website shout box or personal message.

The types of threats u will find in these areas are bullying, threats, hacking,
social engineering

people sending malicious software and much more. U will find more of these
problems resulting

from people who approach these areas wrong.

-prevention-

Never give out contact or personal details to people u have just met or people u
do not trust

Never give out your personal banking details or other credit accounting details
of any kind

Do NOT accept files from unknown people

Scan All files before executing them or opening them

Peer to Peer is meant to be a open free source community there for u should not
have to pay anything at all.

Choose screen names wisely

Obey The Host's Rules or requests

Enjoy your time and make it enjoyable for others

# overall result for protection #

ok so now u have just been thru the basic's of what can and cant happen to your
pc and ways

to prevent it happening to yourself, ill quickly run you thru what i have
explained.

Always run a Anti virus

Always Update your Anti virus

Always run anti Spy/Mal Ware

Always update anti Spy/Male Ware

Keep Up to date with what your Children are doing

Secure your personal details

Write Passwords on paper not on your computer

Know what your downloading

Know what web sites you visit

Be aware of who u trust and contact online

# Ending Words #

Well now u have gone thru this and basically all u have to go by to be secure
and safe is the prevention

guide and all should b good. So enjoy your world wide web time and b safe and
smart.
